Flash-technology

Very often it happens that a customer orders the creation a web site
and wants to make sure the web site will be designed with
flash-technology. No wonder, it’s because this type of web sites is
outstanding compared with other ones. Rich graphics, animation,
sounds and video insets – all these things make the web site more
attractive. But let’s have a look also at the disadvantages of this
type of web site. Do you really need that?

First minus. To open a flash web site a standard browser is not
enough. The user’s computer should have an installed module for
playing flash programmes, moreover the module should be the correct
version, otherwise a flash based web site won’t run. The user will
be staring at an empty screen, then they will close the window and
will never come back to the web site.

Secondly flash web sites are not very well indexed by search
engines. It means the web site will miss a big portion of visitors
who were directed to the site by search engines. And that means that
a firm will miss out on a lot of customers.

The third disadvantage is the fact that flash web sites take much
longer to upload than average web sites. And the patience of users
has its limits. Already after few minutes he / she will get nervous
because they won’t receive the information they were looking for.
Far not everybody will be waiting for 20-30-50 seconds for the web
page to upload, especially if the user opens a few pages at once.

However there is no need to turn your back on flash-technology
completely. Absolutely any technology has its own purposes which
it’s perfect for, but indirectly it can be useful for other reasons
as well. The same is true for the flash-technology, there are some
niches where this technology will bring a lot of help. Let’s see
where using of flash-technology might be possible.
